The further adventures of Roy Porter, Thomas (Chub) Eaton, and Harriet (Harry) Emery, and newcomer Richard (Dick) Somes. The boys attend the small Ferry Hill School (attendance 43 boys) and Harry is the daughter of the boarding school's principal, Doctor Emery. The boys and their chums engage in study and a number of sports, including hockey, baseball, football, and others.

Our three heroes (and one heroine) hatch a plan to form the Ferry Hill Improvement Society, whose mission is to assist Dr. Emery in building a new dormitory, increase enrollment, build a running track and start a track team. Do they succeed?

Ralph Henry Barbour (November 13, 1870 – February 19, 1944) was an American novelist, who primarily wrote popular works of sports fiction for boys. In collaboration with L. H. Bickford, he also wrote as Richard Stillman Powell, notably Phyllis in Bohemia. Other works included light romances and adventure.

During his career, Barbour produced more than 100 novels as well as a number of short stories.--Wikipedia.
