This book is something of an oddity--it has no chapters. It is Dornford Yates' reminiscences in a fictional setting using Berry as his mouthpiece. [Suggest a different description.]
Author Bio for Mercer, Cecil William
Cecil William Mercer (1885-1960), better known by his pen-name, Dornford Yates, was a British author. Trained as a lawyer, he turned to writing in the 1920s. He is best known for a series of books featuring playboy Berry Pleydell. These books described Berry's wealthy, indolent life and his circle of friends. The books were very popular in the interwar years. Mercer also wrote a series of international thrillers centred around Richard Chandos, a suave crime solving detective. His work was influenced by the writings of Anthony Hope who was his uncle. (Chambers Biographical Dictionary)
