| Description: | The Outlander tells the story of a stranger who arrives in an isolated Quebec village, Chenal du Moine, near Sorel. His presence transforms the life of this small community that has been closed to the world until then. The stranger wins the admiration of Father Didace, who would love him as a son and Angélina, the neighbour's daughter, who has never had any success with men, flourishes in contact with him. He leaves unexpectedly but his stay has left the village changed forever. This book which is a translation of the original Le Survenant, won the Governor General's Literary Award in 1950. Author Bio for Guèvremont, Germaine
