Alice Grant Rosman was born in Kapunda, South Australia on July 18, 1882 and died in Highgate, the UK, on August 20, 1961. She began her writing career with columns and stories for Australian newspapers. In 1911, she moved with her sister to England. There she wrote and edited for magazines. She published her first novel in 1915 and achieved her first success with The Window in 1926.
