| Description: | It is too often supposed that a textbook of short story writing is only of value to those who are writing short stories. The chief value of the ideal textbook, such as I conceive Mr. Bement’s book to be, is to heighten the appreciation of the average reader, to reveal new pleasures to him, and to imbue him with that sense of discovery and delighted wonder which is the chief reward of reading.--from the Foreword.
