Max Aitken (1879-1964), Lord Beaverbrook, was a British-Canadian newspaper publisher and politician. Born in Maple, Ontario, he established himself early as a successful businessman and became a millionaire at age 30. He moved to England in pursuit of business interests and quickly became involved in politics winning a seat in the House of Commons in 1909. He was politically active during the First World War but moved onto the newspaper business in the 1920s. He bought the Daily Express and the Evening Standard and created the Sunday Express. He was part of Churchill's wartime cabinet as Minister of Aircraft Production but left politics in 1945. He wrote biographical histories based on his experience in politics and business.
