| Description: | Whoever murdered old Angus Aitken’s serving-girl had not made a neat job of it. The police readily located the lethal meat-axe, and took special note of the bloody footprints of a woman. Silver plate was missing from the Aitken home, clearly indicating robbery as the motive. There seemed no reason to believe she would not go to the gallows. [Suggest a different description.] |
