Author Bio for Phelps, Arthur L.
Arthur Leonard Phelps (1887–1970) was born in Columbus, Ontario. He graduated with a B.A from Victoria College, Toronto in 1913 and then furthered his religious training, becoming an ordained minister in 1915. In 1921 Phelps began a twenty-five year tenure at Wesley College at the University of Manitoba. He was actively involved in local literary and theatrical groups. Phelps became a pre-eminent broadcast journalist and was regarded as the foremost cultural critic of the era. He published little, mostly material from his CBC radio broadcasts.—Abstracted from the University of Manitoba Archives & Special Collections
