Author Bio for Van de Water, Frederic F.

Frederic “Fitz” Franklyn Van de Water (1890-1968) an American journalist and writer. He became a reporter on the New York American in 1914, the night editor of the New York Tribune from 1915-1923 and a book critic there for two years after that. In 1924, he travelled in the West Indies and investigated and reported on rum pirates and Chinese smugglers. He was on the staff of the Ladies Home Journal from 1923 to 1928 and later a book critic at the New York Evening Post. He was also an authority on the New York State Police and at one time held the rank of honorary sergeant as it's only civilian member. He wrote more than 34 books.
