A rapid-fire adventure in Louisiana bayous. When Monty Dixon and Hal Green started off to go hunting in Louisiana their entourage filled more than half the lowers in a sleeping-car of the New Orleans limited. It included the superintendent of the Dixon estate in the Adirondacks, who was to direct the expedition, one of the Green family physicians, Monty’s secretary, a cook, two expert hunters and canoeists from the Adirondacks, and a couple of hand-picked special writers from the Press. The rest were waiting at New Orleans aboard the luxurious shallow-draft yacht Idlewylde.
But they did not stay long on the train. They jumped out the window into vigorous adventure. Feuds, nests of hijackers, and various other thrilling and occasionally humorous adventures surround the heroes, and even a touch of romance.
Mr. Footner’s novels never lack motion, and this is one of the swiftest of his action stories.—Dustcover. [Suggest a different description.]
Author Bio for Footner, Hulbert
Hulbert Footner (1879–1944) was a Canadian writer of non-fiction and detective fiction.
His most successful creation was the beautiful and brilliant Madame Rosika Storey and her plain assistant who explains the evolving solutions to her boss’ cases. His Madame Storey mysteries fit the flapping 1920s like the long lizard gloves that graced her arms and did well supporting his traveling family’s lifestyle. His Rosika Storey cases appeared in Argosy All-Story Weekly every year from 1922 through 1935.--Wikipedia.
