As with the other Canadian Readers in this series, they are based on the English Readers series prepared by J.M.D. Meiklejohn, a professor of education at the University of St. Andrews. Included are selections of articles, stories, poetry, etc. by at least twelve Canadian authors or poets such as: Lawrence Burpee, Susannah Moodie, Agnes Laut, John McCrae, James De Mille, Pauline Johnson amongst the approximately 150 offerings.
