Author Bio for Richardson, Dorothy M.
Dorothy Richardson (1873-1957) was a British author. An innovator in modern fiction, "Stream of consciousness" was first applied to her books. Her first publisher to whom she sent her work returned it saying he could not understand what it was about. She was one of the first writers to fully explore the thoughts and beliefs of a modern woman. Her thirteen volume semi-autobiographical account of a young woman's quest for self-discovery took her over twenty years to complete.
