Author Bio for Macdonnell, Blanche Lucile
Blanche Lucile Macdonnell (1847-1924) was a Canadian author. Born in Toronto of a Loyalist family, she spent most of her life in Montreal living with her parents. She began writing in her mid-life, publishing Diane of Ville Marie in 1898. The book, a literary romance, used her knowledge of the heritage of New France as a basis for her writing. She contributed short stories to several magazines. She was a member of the American Folklore Society. Two other books are attributed to her but, to date, no copies of them have been found.
