Author Bio for Arlen, Michael
Michael Arlen (1895-1956) was a British novelist. Originally named Dikran Kuyumjian, he was born in Ruschuk, Bulgaria. He was educated at Malvern College and Edinburgh University. He became a British citizen in 1922. He began writing novels on stylish London life and made his reputation with such books as "Piracy" and "The Green Hat". In 1928 he married and settled in the south of France. He returned to England during World War II and moved to the United States after the war. (Oxford Companion to English Literature)
