Author Bio for Field, Rachel

Rachel Field (1894-1942) was an American writer known for her books for young adults. She won the Newbery Medal in 1929 for Hitty: Her First Hundred Years. She also wrote novels for adults; All This Heaven Too written in 1938 was turned into a movie starring Bette Davis and Charles Boyer. Among her other talents she wrote plays and lyrics including part of the script for the Disney movie Fantasia. (Poetry Foundation)
